CNN: We’re here at the home of Angie Vandewarker where her son Josh and daughter Jessica have just received an all expense paid for college ride to Indiana Wesleyan University. This comes on the heels of daughter Jessica’s summation of her sophomore year at said university.
CNN: How does it feel to have your children all set for their future?
Angie: It’s a dream come true! We’ve prayed about their choices, and were pleased with their choice of higher education, but to have it all paid for! Wow! What a blessing!
FOX News: (scanning into pictures of two teens) the last update also shared that with these degrees, employers are waiting in the wings for your children to graduate. They’ve promised Jess and Josh prime jobs at the locations of their choice.
Angie: Of course, we would enjoy having our children stay in Michigan, but we never dreamed employers would be available to ensure employment so close to home.
FOX news: You shared earlier, that you children favored the west side of the state.
Angie: (cameras zoom into homestead by Hamilton) Yes. Jess and Josh grew up helping Grandma and Grandpa Yates refurbish their homestead in preparation for their retirement. Their dreams have been to work jobs to finance their dreams.
CNN: So, your parents have been pivotal in your children’s upbringing. How does your husband Jim feel about returning to the West Side of the state? Isn’t it true that taxes are substantially higher on the Lake Michigan shore line as compared to Montcalm County? Wouldn’t it be a more fiscal choice to re-establish a homestead farther in-stat?
Jim: (camera zooms into Jim and Angie on interview couch)Angie was transplanted in her growing up years and though she wasn’t uprooted as much as other kids, she maintained her “roots” as West Michigan. Yes, my family is from the East side of the state, but like Angie, I enjoy the water. We hope to someday retire here ourselves.
